Parvalux Building Complete

Net Zero Headquarters and Production Facility for Parvalux - Project Completed

Parvalux New Net-Zero HQ & Factory Completion

A global manufacturing company specialising in electric motors, were looking to build a cutting-edge, state-of-the-art headquarters and production facility in Poole. The move came in response to a growing demand for Parvalux’s drive products, as well as the company's strong commitment to making production more efficient and sustainable.

After speaking with a few different contractors, Parvalux chose to partner with Jade Aden because of our strong connections with other large local businesses. They also had faith in our ability to bring together a specialised subcontractor supply chain primarily made up of local experts, guaranteeing top-quality results and on-time delivery.

Our project journey started in 2021 and concluded successfully in 2023. Read on to discover our process for designing, constructing, and putting the finishing touches on the new building, and to see how the project turned out!

What did design and planning involve?

We kicked off the project with a feasibility study, assessing how we could bring together all six of the client's UK sites into a single facility. Once that was wrapped up, we were able to draw up a design concept for the new facility.

The client gave our design the green light not long after, so we moved onto the full planning stage in May 2021. Our goal was to create a visually stunning, easily accessible, and fully net zero facility for their work, and we were armed with a budget of £17.7 million to do just that.

How did we construct the building itself?

We began construction in September 2021, starting with the necessary ground remediation work to prepare the site for the new building.

After preparations were complete, we organised the construction schedule around the storage and ground floor factory areas. This approach allowed our clients to access these critical parts of the new building early, making their move smoother and more efficient while reducing operational downtime.

As the client settled into their new location, we continued to build around them, taking steps to minimise disruption to their work. The result was an expansive facility covering 160,000 square feet. The first floor, dedicated to factory production, sprawled across 7,000 square metres and rose to a height of 7.5 metres above the ground floor. We equipped this floor with four custom cargo lifts to make transportation of goods easier.

We also made sustainability a priority. We implemented various renewable technologies throughout the building, including one of the largest photovoltaic arrays in the South of England. This array can generate all the electricity needed to illuminate and power the entire structure, without having to rely on electricity mains.

The end results

We successfully wrapped up the project in the summer of 2023, with the facility becoming fully operational not long after.

The overall building design allows for decades of future expansion for Parvalux, securing their long-term commitment to the Poole area. Even better, they’re already reaping the rewards of the building's eco-friendly features - the photovoltaic array on the roof has generated 635 kilowatts of power so far, significantly trimming down the company's electricity bills and carbon footprint.

What did the client have to say?

Doug Sheppard, managing director at Parvalux, said this about our work

“On behalf of the board, a massive thank you for your hard work and dedication to the project. The building is truly amazing and launches a new very exciting chapter for Parvalux and Maxon. It has been an amazing and enjoyable project and we hope you are as proud of the building as we are.”
